This home near Fremont Ave in NE Portland is a classic bungalow with a low second story.  Many old Portland homes have what was designated as “floor and a half” designs to avoid taxes on the second floor.  Today this leaves many bungalows with only a marginally useful second story.  Our intent was to add a master bath and an office space in a new dormer and to maintain the original lines of the house such that the new addition was not obvious or distracting from the street.
